Blitting 10,000 Sprites in Actionscript 3.0
In this article we extend the code written in the last tutorial.
We reuse the blitted animation to animate 10,000 sprites
at 12fps, pushing the limits of what you can achieve with
the Flash Player. Faster computers may be able to run
more than this; I am able to run 15,000 without any drop in
frame rate, so feel free to explore the upper boundary.

A Flex FAQ Browser
Last month I showed how to program an application
that could both create and load XML data files. This
made it easy to construct individual data records by
entering text into the fields on a form and then saving
a database in XML format on disk. I used the same
application to load the XML data from the file. However,
that application made no attempt to display the XML in
a nicely formatted way. I’ll deal with that problem now.

Objective C Fundamentals: Boxing
While NSNumber provides a convenient and clean
interface for boxing and unboxing numerical based
primitive types, NSValue allows you to box and unbox
any C-style value at the expense of having a slightly
more complex interface to program against.
-
Objective C Fundamentals: NSXML Parser
Apple provides a class called NSXMLParser to iPhone
developers. Developers use this class when parsing
XML. This article from Objective-C Fundamentals shows
that NSXMLParser provides delegate methods that
handle every point of parsing for both XML- and DTDbased
documents.

How to Promote a More Seamless Designer/ Developer Workflow
One of the biggest issues in an application UI development
process is the workflow between the designer and the
developer. The designer is rightly concerned about
the integrity of the design, while the developer is also
concerned about the functionality of the final application.
